From May 3 to 11, we participated in the Ecosport project in Iscar, Spain. This Erasmus+ project was a completely new experience for us – equally for those who participated in the Erasmus+ project for the first time, and for those who participated 3 or 4 times. Such projects really provide incredible opportunities for learning, getting to know other cultures, and making lasting friendships. We had the opportunity to learn about the differences between our language and the Spanish language, to discover that for them EcoSport only means ecology, that tortilla and Spanish tortilla are not the same things, and that what our older generations call laziness here means siesta and everyone does it.
We learned many fun games for getting to know each other and we will never forget what the 5Rs mean in ecology. We learned and forgot the names of 30 beautiful people from all over Europe and we will always remember 7 tired and unforgettable days that ended up with a pity that we didn’t sleep even less. Although our living conditions were not always bright, what is the whole essence of such projects came to the fore, and that is getting to know young people from other parts of Europe.
We managed to break many stereotypes that we had at the beginning – having a beard does not mean being uninterested in things, pate for breakfast, lunch and dinner might not be such a bad diet and many others. It was amazing to see people of so many nations so united and happy in learning and examining similarities and differences. To be surprised at how many of the same problems we have, and yet to notice those small differences that make us different and interesting. We were especially delighted by the trips to Segovia and Salamanca, where we had the opportunity to organize our own trip through the city for the whole day and gain a new experience.
All in all, this project was something that none of us will soon forget, and we will carry our team and all these memories in our hearts for the rest of our lives.
The organiser of the project is Asociación CD Chañe and the partner from Croatia Association Strive! The project is co-financed with the Erasmus + program.
