Youth Exchange: “YOUth Health Matters”
The project “YOUth Health Matters” will gather 35 participants from 7 countries from 5 to 14 March 2020 to learn, practice, play, discuss and create all together in a playful, fun, intercultural and nonformal way.
The youth exchange is designed as eight days of activities (plus two days for
travelling). It includes various indoor and outdoor activities, individual and
group work. All activities and overnight stays will take place in Ferienzentrum am Deich Burhave, a non-profit family recreation facility situated in a rural area, free of distractions and hence appropriate for reflection and creative work. The venue will be used for accommodation, morning pages activity, discussions and workshops, as well as reflection exercises. You can expect interactive workshops, games and intercultural nights.
The recreation facility consists of several small apartment buildings and holiday houses. There is a park-like area where outdoor activities such as morning sports sessions can take place. Very close by is the beach where participants can take walks, reflect on things discussed during the workshops and explore the peculiarity of tides.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES
Thus, the project aims at bringing together young people from various countries in order to exchange practices and ideas on inclusivity, diversity and health. The aim of the project is to broaden young people’s horizons by sharing different approaches and points of view on these topics. Means of nonformal education are used not only to enhance the learning experience for participants but also to develop individual skill sets young people will be able to use in a professional environment.
More specifically the project aims to provide space for participants to:
– Increase their knowledge on the issues of well-being, mental and physical health, emotional intelligence and inclusion;
– Strengthen the understanding of health and healthy living as a social value;
– Share information and experiences of their organization, target groups and projects working across the same theme;
– Work out similarities and differences and brainstorm ideas for future projects;
– Develop contacts and networks to engage in youth exchanges with other participants working on the above-mentioned topics;
– Connect local community activities with the European project and work in the spirit of active European citizenship;
– Promote mutual understanding among people from different cultural backgrounds;
– Integrate and combine local, regional and national approaches within the project;
– Combine intercultural and non-formal learning as a method with the topic processing in the workshops and the project results;
– Combat exclusion of the participants from disadvantaged areas through the deliberate involvement and inclusion;
– Demonstrate creativity, technical skills and abilities through their own workshops (organized during the project);
– Gain a clear understanding of possibilities and priorities within the Erasmus + program;
– Understand how to include non-formal learning and Youthpass in youth exchange projects.

TO GOOD TO BE TRUE?
Even we are offering participation in this project “for free” it doesn’t mean it is free. As an organization, we are covering project administration costs and our young volunteers are working hard, investing their energy, knowledge and time to make this opportunity possible. Why? Because we are in love with mobility and striving to open even more international opportunities for young people and youth workers in Croatia and wider who invest time in self-development and make positive changes in their environments.
