YOUTH EXCHANGE: Rural Youth +
Why RURAL YOUTH+?
A group of young people started to work all together in this project design. After a lot of meetings and hard work, we complete it, with help and guidance from our Youth Coordinator.
The specific aims and objectives of the project are:
– Promote the development of knowledge and skills focused on the development of rural communities.
– Facilitate the exchange of knowledge, experiences and practices that promote youth participation and innovation in line with sustainable development in rural areas.
– Promote learning and development opportunities among young people with fewer opportunities.
What is “RURAL YOUTH+”?
It is a project of KA1, in the Erasmus+ Programme by European Commission. It has one main activity: a youth exchange in La Palma (Spain), for 16 young people (between 14-19 years) and 4 group leaders.
In this project participate two EU organizations, Ayuntamiento de San Andrés y Sauces-Punto de Información Juvenil (Spain) as coordinator, and Assciation Strive! (Croatia), as partner.
When is “RURAL YOUTH+”?
This project was designed to develop on Easter week holidays, from 5th to 9th April 2020, because travels in this season are highly expensive, we will try to be flexible with dates, respecting duration of activity (5 activity days + 2 travel days), so it means that finally, when we manage travels, activity could change dates, for example, 4-8 of April; 6-10 April….so please, keep in mind to be flexible with this date.
What about the PLACE?
This activity is in La Palma Island, Canary Islands, Spain. The most part of our activities will be in San Andrés y Sauces, a little rural town on the north side of the island. This town is known by the exceptional forest of Laurisilva, which is Biosphere World Research by UNESCO, and cultural traditions.
And ACCOMMODATION?
We are going to stay in Aula de La Naturaleza de Las Cancelas. It´s a little public hostel for 26 persons. It´s located in our town, about 30 minutes walking from the town centre, in the middle of nature landscape. It has two rooms for 4 group-leaders, four rooms for 24 persons, kitchen, bathrooms and a big room which can be used as a dining room, or room for meetings, workshops, games… You can check it on the link.
Participant profile
We are looking for 8 very motivated young people (age 14 – 19) that will take part in this rural youth exchange. Searching for active teenagers who are communicative, willing to learn, not afraid to speak foreign languages in public and love nature. Volunteering experience is an advantage.
Take it as a challenge to convince us that we are looking for a person just like you!
If you are older than 19 and have youth work experience in Erasmus +, you are eligible to apply as the youth leader. Active members of Association have an advantage for team leaders positions.
Costs
Erasmus + program is covering full costs of accommodation and food (3 meals per day + snacks) during the youth exchange. Organizers are buying tickets for selected participants. So, all you actually need to travel to the end of Europe is some pocket money.
There is the annual membership for joining our mobility projects. The price of membership is different for active and passive members, volunteers, or newcomers, so for detailed info contact us via email yo********************@gm***.com
DO I NEED TO KNOW SOMETHING MORE?
Yes. There is no participation fee. But you are agreeing with rules and conditions by signing participant contract and including it in the application. All participants younger than 18 need to send us signed parental approval in the application process. Applications without a signed contract and parental approval are not going to be accepted. So, better be serious and read all the info about project one more time including your personal time management! ?

All data is going to be handled according to GDPR regulations.
SELECTED PARTICIPANTS
Selected participants will be informed about results no later than 7th of February 2020 and receive the info pack of the youth exchange.
TO GOOD TO BE TRUE?
Even we are offering participation in this project “for free” it doesn’t mean it is free. As an organization, we are covering project administration costs and our young volunteers are working hard, investing their energy, knowledge and time to make this opportunity possible. Why? Because we are in love with mobility and striving to open even more international opportunities for young people and youth workers in Croatia and wider who invest time in self-development and make positive changes in their environments.
