AME OF VOLUNTEER POSITION: Seeing Companion / Assistant on the Training Course: Digi-YOUTH-alization

DESCRIPTION OF VOLUNTEER POSITION


Helping with active participation in the training course “Digi-YOUTH-alization” in Bitola, North Macedonia from 17th until the 25th of November 2019 as the assistant to the blind female participant.

TC: “Digi-YOUTH-alization

TASKS:
– communicating and preparing necessary instructions during the workshops,
– assisting in performing tasks,
– encouraging active participation in workshops,
– helping with orientation in free time,
– any help when travelling to and from the place of the project,
– helping (if requested) when performing daily routines.

PROFILE OF THE VOLUNTEER:


– sensitization towards people with disabilities, especially towards blind people,
– a young, responsible person with excellent communication skills,
– good knowledge of English in verbal communication and writing,
– a calm and cared person who is able to listen and respond well to unpredictable situations,
– ready to participate in the project as a participant and as an assistant to the blind person,
– readiness to provide assistance, if requested, during the duration of the project,
– a person can not have any criminal or other charges.

Who are you going to support?

Melissa. Our active member from Umag who wants to help other young people in her local community with social inclusion and gain more skills on this project. You can meet her watching the video from her 1st training course “Social Media for Social Inclusion” organized by POPEDU in Vienna, Austria.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

With this project we intend to build digital competencies and encourage implementing innovative practices in the digital youth work, disseminating the knowledge to volunteers and young people with fewer opportunities. We will cover the Web Content Accessibility and Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) as an effort to improve the accessibility of the websites for people with disabilities. Read all the details about the project here.

Association Strive! will cover the fee for participating volunteer and provide symbolic pocket money.
