The conclusion from Panagyurishte: BE SOLIDARY!

How is it possible that we got to travel to Bulgaria? How is it possible that we had a chance to meet people from Portugal, Italy, Romania, Poland, and Bulgaria all at once? And how is it possible that we got to spend a wonderful week in Panagyurishte? (We didn’t make up this name, seriously.)

Panagyurishte

Let me tell you (but don’t tell anyone!): It’s all thanks to Erasmus +!

In late July there was a project named Be solidary – Change the World, that was aimed to encourage young people to discuss ideas of how to overcome the social exclusion of young people living in rural areas. During our workshops that were mostly „learning by doing“ we have also managed to touch the subjects of discrimination, stereotypes and how to create a new project by which we can continue our discussions.

Lovely discussions

Besides our workshops, we were provided with free time that helped us further discuss topics that are personally interesting and helped us create bonds that will follow us through our life.

We were located in one very fine hostel in the little town of Panagyurishte. Every day we experienced something different: ice-breaking games for warm-up, group discussions about topics (and then reflection), sports day (in which we were able to play sports with local citizens and do a very fine meditation on the top of the hill), visit to the local theater (where we have learned how to dance traditional Bulgarian dance), competitive group tasks in which we were exploring the city etc. All of this was supported by a very fine organization provided by our 2 hosts/ project leaders and very skillful trainer.

Workshops

During the time we have spent there together we were able to get to know each other on one deeper/ friendlier level, thoroughly discuss the topics given to us on the workshops. Since each one of us came from different country/ city, our perception of stated topics was also different; gathering our minds together we were able to reach very interesting places in our discussions.

Sport time

Since we were located in the smaller city like Panjagyurishte (in opposition to big city like Sofia that is located only 70 km west from it), we were really able to feel what it means to live in a place that is not a great metropolis, and what kind of lifestyle this kind of living brings with it. Each one of us somehow saw a different picture, but the conclusion from all of the participants was only: BE SOLIDARY!

After this project, we really can not wait to attend another project like this one and try to bring our great continent of Europe more together.
