ABOUT THE PROJECT

“Monitors’ Survival Kit” is a youth exchange co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union. It will take place in Gran Canaria between Bulgaria, Croatia, and Spain. It will start from 30th September to 7th October 2019 (8 days: 1 travel day, 6 activities days, 1 travel day).

This project arises from the need to create a group of young people with tools of facilitators and monitors which help to improve the reality of our environment. The reality of young people in the town is very complicated in different fields: work, alternative leisure, extra-school, and non-formal training. In addition, many of the young people are forced to move to the coastal area to have job opportunities. Given the impossibility of being able to generate more projects a year from our organization to keep alive the sociocultural life of young people, we consider the possibility of laying the foundations so that the participants of this project can become monitors and be in charge of being able to start request and manage similar projects, in the medium term.

The objectives of the project are:

  • Increasing youth participation, generating associative fabric among the young people of the municipality.
  • Increasing knowledge of the Erasmus + program: With the organization of European projects that generate a benefit in local communication thanks to the co-financing of the Erasmus Program of the European Union.
  • Improving job opportunities: with the coordination of larger projects in the future that allow even employability as monitors, facilitators, and logisticians of similar projects.
  • Improving knowledge of other cultures, thanks to the activities planned during the exchange (intercultural nights, welcome night, “Albatros’ Island”, etc.)
  • Developing isolated rural areas, in an isolated and fragmented territory (Canary Islands): with projects that provide the opportunity for young people from the Canary Islands to get to know other places or people from other cultures and increase their cultural baggage.

What we will do?

We will work with a participatory methodology, through dynamics, workshops, role-plays and intercultural nights, so that each country set to show and know the culture of the rest of the project participants.

The activities proposed are the following:

– LEARNING ACTIVITIES: Sessions of basic notions of monitors and facilitators.

– YOUTH ACTIVITIES: An activity to make visible the program and the European Union, as well as generating a space where they can apply the basic notions learned during the project.

– ACTIVITIES ABOUT EUROPE: Work the feeling of belonging to Europe; the opportunities of the E+ Programs and disseminate existing resources among the youth of the local community.

– CULTURAL ACTIVITIES: To know and deepen the knowledge of the different cultures that the continent possesses to improve understanding and interculturality.

PARTICIPANTS PROFILE

We are looking for participants who are:

  • 16 – 25 years old,
  • residents in Croatia,
  • have a desire to communicate in English and other languages,
  • strongly motivated to engage in the project,

  • want to improve their environment.

A total of 33 people will be part of the project: 9 participants from each country with their corresponding leader and, in the case of Jiribillas as a host entity, 3 people from the organization.

COSTS

This project is financed by Erasmus +, so all costs like travelaccommodation, and food during the exchange duration are covered.

The maximum travel budget for the Croatian team is 275 EUR per participant, and it will be reimbursed to participants after the end of all project activities and provided all justifying documents. But don’t worry, we will help you with that.

Are we getting any certificate?

You will have the opportunity to earn Youthpass – recognition tool for non-formal & informal learning on youth projects. It’s more than just a certificate. Trust us. 🙂
